The Nerd Street Gamers are at it again! Having hosted many Valorant tournaments before, such as Riot Games’ First Strike series, the Nerd Street Gamers are promising “frosty frags” as they start their Winter Championships for Valorant on January 13, at 3 PM EST.
As mentioned in the tweet above, $25,000 are at stake. More specifically, the prize pool is being split as follows:
- $15,000 for 1st
- $7,500 for 2nd
- $2,500 for 3rd
Clash of Titans, New and Old
The Nerd Street Gamers Winter Championships for Valorant will have 16 teams duke it out for that cold, hard cash. The bracket consists of four invited teams, and twelve teams that have qualified through previous events. As for the invited teams, you’ll see some familiar faces and names:
Meanwhile, twelve teams have qualified to take part in this championship via previous events. Those teams are:
- Moon Raccoons
- XSET Gaming
- Built By Gamers (BBG)
- Spacestation Gaming
- Team 2D
- Luminosity Gaming
- Equinox Esports
- Project !
It goes without saying that the invited teams are the favored ones in terms of raw talent. However, Cloud9 might have suffered a setback in this regard thanks to their star player, Tyson “TenZ” Ngo stepping down from competitive Valorant, to focus on content creation the day before the tournament. The qualified teams certainly are nothing to sneeze at either, in particular the Moon Raccoons and eUnited. Project !, which consists of mostly ex-Mamba Mode Gaming players, is also a potential dark horse in this championship. It’s almost anyone’s tournament here.
We here at Run it Back will keep a close eye on this tournament for you. And of course stay tuned here for everything else Valorant!
