The Twitch Rivals: Valorant Launch Showdown tournament took place this past weekend with a lot of exciting Valorant matches. The tournament sported a rich $200,000 prize pool spread across eight regions. Streamers and players from all across the world competed for their own share of the enticing prize pool. Europe (EU) was split into Europe 1 and Europe 2 with a $49,000 prize pool. North America (NA) was granted a $42,000 prize pool. Here are the winners of the two regions.
EUrope 1: team mixwell
- Oscar “Mixwell” Cañellas
- Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks
- Adil “scream” Benrlitom
- Jacob “pyth” Mourujärvi
- William “draken” Sundin
Europe 1 saw the dominance of Counter-Strike professionals take over. Composed of big CSGO names on the scene such as scream or draken, this team was definitely the favorites of their region. The team went 6-0 and most teams did not stand a chance against the CSGO superteam.
In the final Mixwell and co. faced Team ONSCREEN, composed of four members of the Valorant team fish123: Adam ”ec1s” Eccles, Dom ”soulcas” Sulcas, James ”Kryptix” Affleck and Travis ”L1NK” Mendoza. The matchup may have been one of the most exciting out of the whole tournament for many. However, the final was mostly one-sided, with Mixwell’s mix taking both Haven and Bind with a 13-5 score, ending the best-of-three final without much fight from the fish123 core.
Europe 2: team Duno
Europe 2 saw a mix of more Eastern European teams participating. The winning team, Team Duno, hailed from the CIS region, and went through the tournament undefeated as did Team Mixwell from Europe 1.
The CIS team faced the Turkish Team wtcN. Both teams were hyped from the start as the Turkish and the CIS squads did exceptionally well in their respective groups, as well as in the playoffs. In the end, however, the CIS team reigned supreme with great individual performances and working well as a team to withstand aggressive pushes by the Turks, something that pipson12 confirmed in a post-final interview. Team Duno took home a nice $10,000 prize while wtcN went home with $5,000.
North America: team brax (t1)
- Braxton “Brax” Pierce
- Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham
- Austin “crashies” Roberts
- Victor “food” Wong
- Keven “AZK” Larivière
The North America Twitch Rivals tournament in Valorant had so many talented teams to offer it was difficult to have a favorite. However, one team that definitely stood out was the T1 lineup, which was recently completed with the signing of ex-CSGO pro, Skadoodle.
T1 faced Team Myth in the final. Team Myth sported Matthew “Wardell” Yu, a very talented ex-CSGO AWPer alongside Yassine “Subroza” Taoufik, CSGO player, Tayler “Drone” Johnson, and Stephen “reltuC” Cutler. The four players are part of the Valorant squad TSM.
The final was an exciting match up, with all three maps played in the best-of-three finale. Team Brax grabbed the first map Bind after a 13-7 win. Myth and co. retaliated on Haven with a 13-6 victory. The third decider map took the teams back to Bind, where it could have gone either way. In the end, the T1 squad took the last map with a marginal 13-10 win. Brax and co. won $10,250 in prize money while Team Myth received a $7,250 prize from the large pool.
